Good morning, Mt. Spokane families. Due to the concerns of many parents and students, I’d like to provide some information regarding a situation that transpired last week.
Last Friday afternoon we learned of a questionable post on social media from one of our students. We immediately addressed the student and parent with the help of our school resource officer and determined that there was no credible threat to the safety of our school or students. Today, Tuesday, December 13th, we are still of the belief that our school is a safe and secure environment for your son or daughter.
The post in question was deleted immediately on Friday. As many students captured the original post by taking a screen shot and then sharing, the level of concern has increased, thus this message to you this morning.
We appreciate students and families expressing their concern specific to any potential safety issues at Mt. Spokane. Our administrative team, including our school resource officer, will always take these situations seriously as the safety of our school is paramount.
Our entire team is on site today to support students and address concerns. We look forward to another productive day at Mt. Spokane.
I appreciate your continued support of our high school and wish you a happy and healthy holiday season.
