Dear Mt. Spokane High School community,
As we enter winter break, please accept my warmest and most sincere wishes for a memorable and safe holiday season. Today, our final school day of 2015, was a constant reminder of how fortunate I am to work at Mt. Spokane High School. Consider the following:
* Students in our DLC (Developmental Learning Center) program sold over 250 balloons to students and staff. These balloons were given as small gifts to wish someone within our building a happy holiday season, and the funds gathered go directly back to our DLC students - what a blessing!
* Staff members gathered in our beautifully decorated Atrium to share a potluck lunch together. Joined by some MSHS retirees, the gathering of our staff reminded me how lucky I am to work with people who are professionally committed to our students and each other. People make the difference, and MSHS has wonderful people doing important work each day.
* During lunch, I watched two math teachers help a student who is currently struggling. Their focused care, combined with a hint of confidence building, left this student in a place where she learned the specific material and felt a newfound confidence moving forward. What a gift as she heads into break!
The commonality with each of these three scenarios involves the notion of being present with one another, and I'm beyond grateful that those who I have the good fortune to work with are just that. . . present.
We like to say that we're "ALL IN" at MSHS, and I hope you find the time to be "ALL IN" too during this season of family and friends. The giving of presence is a good way to start.
Happy Holidays, Wildcats!
