The current Union Gospel Mission Women and Children's Crisis Shelter on Sprague Avenue is the only option for women and their families to find safety in their present times of hardship. The shelter, however, is in a unsafe part of town.
Living space is limited, with an extremely small kitchen and non-existent eating area. Because UGM will not turn any homeless woman or child away, they often put down mattresses on the kitchen floor to accommodate all who need a place to sleep.
Project H.O.P.E. (Homeless Outreach Project and Empowerment) students from Mount Spokane are supporting a fundraiser this month called "Pies for HOPE," with the goal of raising $5,000 to sponsor a room at the new crisis shelter. If you would like to contribute, feel free to visit our GoFundMe page or contribute a check to Mount Spokane with the subject line "Project H.O.P.E."
