We will start our 5 days a week summer running on Monday June 19th. In the years past the coaches met the kids on M-W-F but this year it will be M-F.
We plan to meet at 8 am and will plan on running from Yokes Daily. This will save us 40-50 minutes a day and we won't have to worry about transportation to other places to run. Our plan is simple. We need to put in the correct mileage, with one long run in a week, a hill workout day, a tempo day, a fartlek day, a speed day, and two recovery days. Three days a week we need to work on our physical strength whether in the weight room or resistance exercises. Staying health is vital. That's where the shoes come in, the pool, etc. We have the time to build up mileage if we start right away. Truth is we get better by putting in the work and putting in the work means having the proper base to handle the fast pace 5K races in the fall. Everything we do will be monitored by us. The kids will build up to the above training days but all in good time.
We also have a team campout planned for the end of July. Location and dates are TBA but want to let you know in advance.
